I bought a Far Infrared(FIR) Blanket yesterday!
Unfortunately, it didn't come with the instruction manual, but I managed to figure it out in about an hour through trial and error(yup, basically just plugging and unplugging the various wires to see if it heats up evenly!)
In the evening, when I went to Babelicious for my lymphatic drainage massage, I seized the chance to pick up some tips from my therapist, Ah Lian, on its proper usage.
Before you begin, spread 2 towels inside the blanket to make it easier to clean up later. Place a folded towel at the top to cushion your head and absorb perspiration, then zip up the blanket.
Next, set the temperature and timer. Allow the blanket to heat up for 15 minutes.
You may use this time to apply slimming or firming cream. If you like, you can even DIY a salon-style body wrap by slathering on a thick layer of fat-burn cream and wrapping yourself in Clingwrap.
Lower the temperature to your preference, get in the blanket and zip yourself up. When you're done, unzip, use a pair of scissors to slit the plastic wrap open(if using) and shower off.
Apply firming cream after toweling dry. Wipe the hot blanket down with a wet cloth.
General Guidelines:
If using in an air-conditioned room, preheat the blanket at 65 degrees celsius for 15 minutes. Lower to 60 degrees celsius before you get in.
For use in a non-airconditioned room, preheat the blanket at 50 degrees celsius for 15 minutes. Lower to 45 degrees celsius before you get in.
The recommended treatment time is 20-30 minutes per session.
Now I can do a basic detox and slimming session at home, anytime!
Verdict: Excellent value for money. Great to do a relaxing detox session just before attending a function as skin glows with radiance immediately after. The increased blood circulation also results in naturally rosy cheeks.
